Thanksgiving 2008
Some pictures from Thanksgiving. It's all I have. Sorry if you were hoping for more. Especially from the Lehi pool. Nobody took pictures there.
Thank You Heather
I figured out how to do glitter, thanks to my awesome sister, Heather. Thank you so much. And I think I might just try the shape cutter for frames, but I don't know if there are any that I really like. We'll see.

My First Kit
I've started making my own digital scrapbooking kit. It's hard work. There's lots of things I want to do, but don't know how to do. I think I'm limited by the version of Photoshop I'm using, because some of the things I want to do, I've seen similar done with other people's kits. So, for the two (or maybe three or four) people that read this blog...do you have any ideas of why I can't do glitter (for instance) or a frame for pictures?

Playing with Black and White
For this one, I wanted to do some black and white photos, so I went to "image" then "mode", and chose "grayscale" to make my color pictures black and white. Then I played around a little bit with lightening and darkening shadows, highlights, and midtones under "adjust color." I'm still not 100% pleased with them, wish there was something more I could do, but I haven't quite figured it out yet. So this is as good as it gets for right now. By the way, the only thing from Yajaira is the white swirl. I made the paper myself, and the other stuff is from the digital scrapbook day treasure hunt. Way too many things from there to keep track of all of it.

Ammon Pool
I was showing my mom how to digi-scrap. And I had to use some of my fabulous booty from the Digital Scrapbooking Day Treasure Hunt. So much stuff for free. It was nuts. I didn't finish the search though. I realized I had way too much booty, and hardly any space left on the hard drive (only 20% of the space is free). Oops. I still have to finish unzipping all the files, then going back through and sorting, but I have so much stuff, now the possibilities really are endless. And maybe someday I will figure out how to make my own stuff too.

Halloween 2008
This is a two page spread, for if I ever get a book printed of all of these. Although the books are super expensive everywhere I've seen. For that price I should just go back to paper scrapbooking. Sheesh.

Like Mother, Like Daughter
A side by side comparison of Abigail and I. One new thing I did with this one was to make the wire holding the pictures up. I used the brush tool and grey color, then did a simple inner bevel effect on it to make it look like real wire, instead of just grey paint. I think it turned out well. It was a lot of work to find something that I liked though. A lot of undo-ing.

Abigail in the Duck Blanket
Here's the same layout, but with Abigail instead. I figured it would be fun to see how similar they look.

Bryant in the Duck Blanket
We took a picture just like this of Abigail. It is one of my favorites. So I figured I'd better do the same with Bryant.

Cute Girl
I just took this picture today. Sometimes you take a picture that just needs to be shown, if for nothing else than you have a cute kid. I can't believe how grown up she looks. And oh so cute with the ribbon head band. I love it.

One Month
The one thing I did with this one was use the brush tool to do all the white around the picture. Our red plaid couch just didn't look good. Next time I do picture I might have to do a backdrop. Though the reasoning behind taking pictures on the couch was to use the plaid as a gauge for growth.

Youth Jam 2008
Everything is from Jady Day, except the metal frame. That's from Shazbutt Moisson. I found it at Digiscrap Boutique. It was a freebie. I love freebies.

Baby Buc
I just thought this would be really cute to do for Kari. Granted Baby Buc hasn't come yet, and probably won't for another month, I thought it would be fun to make an announcement when I saw the skeleton border. For those of you who don't know, Kari and Steve love most things Pirate. And it looked like skulls and crossbones to me. So, welcome to the world (soon) Baby Buc.
P.S. To Kari: If you really want to use this for an announcement, you are more than welcome to, I can send you the PSD file so you can edit the text as needed.

Abigail in her brown dress
There was a paper in the Brookie Cookie set that had a bunch of flowers going across the page diagonally, on a white background, but I couldn't figure out how to get just the flowers off the page. Then I looked closer and noticed it was the same bunch of flowers, just different sizes and rotations on them. And I already had that flower graphic on the page, right next to the picture. So I did what Yajaira probably did, and made my own flowers do what she had done with the one paper. I think it turned out pretty well. Plus I was able to layer it over just part of the picture of Abigail instead of all the way over, or all the way underneath. YAY!!

Camping at Palisades
Okay, I know I spelled reservoir wrong. Oops. I realized it too late, and the only way I know of to fix it is to start all over again. Once it's been saved and closed it opens as one image, with no layers. If someone knows how to edit the layers once it's been closed, I would like to know how.

Abigail in her adorable Easter dress. I think it snowed two days later. And then about 2 months later too. Go figure.

Abigail's Second Birthday
On this one, I created the middle paper, the purplish pink one, myself. The texture didn't show up very well though. I also added some shadows to everything, for depth, it looked a little flat. Then did the embossing on the text. I really like the look of the embossing. And the purple polka dots was originally yellow. I've been having fun with color. I need to get better with textures for the papers though. And then figure out how make embellishments that look realistic. I made some paper leaves today. I'll make a page soon that uses them.
Bryant's Blessing
I didn't really do much with this one. Played around with some effects. Need to figure out how to do the shadows better. And I really wish Photoshop would show me what the fonts look like the way that Word does. Right now I have to select the font to see how it will look. I wish the font name was written in the style of the font. I hope that makes sense. Oh yeah, I made the tage myself. Next time I think I will play around with texture more though, so it looks better. But I think it looks okay for a first attempt.

Abigail at the Fair
For this one I played around with color, the only thing that is unchanged from the Shine On Me kit is the yellow brad. I also added an embossing effect on the text and shadows on the flowers and frame. I think it looks pretty good, though I wish there was something I could do to make the brads look better.

Introducing Bryant
I just wish the pictures were better. With this one I played around with changing the colors. The brad holding down the tag was originally yellow, but that didn't match. I'm learning. I just wish I could have matched the color better. I think Ican with more practice, patience, and learning though. Shouldn't be too hard. Just didn't have the time today with the kiddies.
