I love iNSD because of all the wonderful freebies and deals all over the internet that the digital scrapbooking world has to offer. And it gets me in the scrapping spirit, because I don't scrap much these days. I was hoping the template would make things faster, but each LO still took me at least three hours. And the last one, in honor of my mom, for Mother's Day, took me about 6 hours to do. Mainly because I almost had it done mostly using one kit (and not really feeling it), and then stumbling across the kit (A Mother's Story, which is a retired Jady Day Studio goody) seen in the last LO. I feel in love with this kit, and loved the flowers and botany spin, which was perfect for my mom, who loves to garden. The green leaves and such are actually from a new Jady Day Studio kit (in collaboration with Kay Miller), Park Play, which I am also in love with. It's the kit I used in the first LO. The second LO is made using Spring and Winter in Hooville.

Leslie@leserleeslovesandhobbieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05829256000923507369noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4003403311551774939.post-7841767544631908662011-04-08T14:48:00.000-07:002011-04-08T14:52:01.076-07:00Rainbow Bright<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUxdPHZK2ZdFUboVabuBHYfZ6iFDgmrEEX25dJF53i824-m6G-TaXqYNL4fqyj_ww9ZOJ7WDHCxWYHxI-RraAyaFb3VjqN_8HbCu80y393sItlvnfB38TL_uxTK_Y8kohvPOMwoK0D3Gm9/s400/Rainbow+Bright+copy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5593333200445411330" />
Yes, I am aware that Rainbow Brite the person spells her name differently than I did. That was intentional, since this wasn't an attempt to replicate Rainbow Brite's look, but when Abigail wears this outfit it reminds me of her. Hence "Rainbow Bright". This all comes from a kit I got from the "So You Think You Can Design" contest way back when, from a designer called Abish Allen. The kit is called "Every Day Moments". I'm as shocked as you are that I'm not using a kit by Jady Day Studio. But I've got all these other kits, I might as well use them.Leslie@leserleeslovesandhobbieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05829256000923507369noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4003403311551774939.post-24313783567021186632011-02-28T19:10:00.000-08:002011-02-28T19:34:45.934-08:00Family Picture 2010<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJyunziPTlEFnZAqkuMonRpW6RuvxrJh85ljVePTuLzyCWZlL92hJ_A0RTUiSIRnkaOJRzpSDxw7DSrYZnkg0WeqgEoOipbj3mnzRgrDaRUqBwULPXibSlkefb_ZhPrtR-qikO3tOe6CiY/s400/family+picture+2010+copy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5578944468563160066" />
Everything but the rick rack are from Springdipity by Jady Day Studio. I really wanted to use four pictures, but thought that would crowd the page quite a bit. But I realized the picture of Carl and the kids climbing the hill had a lot of dead space in it, so I used that picture for my background by changing the opacity. I really like the way this page turned out, though I wish Carl's head didn't look like it was missing because it blended in with the dark background. And the snowman picture convinced me that I need a dSLR camera, so I can focus on certain things, and leave the background blurry so I don't have to do creative scrapping and cropping to block out the busy-ness of the background. BTW, everything is from Jady Day Studio, Winter in Hooville Kit.Leslie@leserleeslovesandhobbieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05829256000923507369noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4003403311551774939.post-51340783897151729622010-12-18T15:04:00.000-08:002010-12-18T15:05:35.433-08:00First Day of School Sept. 2010Everything from Jady Day Studio, "Little Scholar" kit.Leslie@leserleeslovesandhobbieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05829256000923507369noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4003403311551774939.post-85425949349635152072010-11-29T13:04:00.000-08:002010-11-29T13:15:01.090-08:00Halloween, 3 of 3Not my favorite page, but I wasn't sure how else to do it. And since I'm all for helping others (and getting things for free in return), I figured I would take them up on their offer. And although I've never ordered cards or photo gifts from them, I usually do order my photo prints from them that I put in the Christmas cards, and I've always been pleased with the timely service and quality from them. The two photo cards that I found that I love (because I still get to do my letter, although it will be somewhat abbreviated) are shown below. I love the Top Ten one, because then I really have to think about our most favorite memories from this year. And I love the simplicity of both of them. I just wish they came in blue and green too, without the red.

I love this card (below) for the simple Christmas message on it. And to answer your question, Mom, the third Easter Egg hunt was our neighborhood one, in the water retention basin at the end of our cul-de-sac. Now that the Easter posts are done it's probably time to start scrapbooking our California trip. We'll see how much of it I actually get done, especially because we received a scrapbook of the trip in the mail from my grandma last week. Besides my kids, of course, and then my children just barely beat him out as cutest. He is adorable. So, it was my lucky surprise, when looking through pictures, to decide what to scrap next, I ran across these two gems. I LOVE THIS KID!! Elements are from Jady Day Studio, "Safari Dreamin'" and "Blooming Friendship" and Sweet Digi Scraps "Why Don't We..." And the leaf came from Stephenie Ogren "Norwegian Wood". I love it when combining lots of different designers and kits works out so well. YAY! And Mom, I didn't do any journaling this time because I didn't want any typos. :) P.S. Thanks for pointing out all the others ones to me. The funny part is, on the animal one, I even had Carl proofread it, and ran spellcheck in Word, but since "awsome" was in all caps, it skipped that word.<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK5uV5G6O4MEQ0HQNfT2dQXgq2EcDS7yjuzat6p5jyFXQyHbaBelqvYPAY1cH4TJUsDdYbhM8hxsQEDih5O1VP8oIVw-0rWDdKIv1du3O85jtzbk5YhjikyKXN56mEB_GwN1d-4s4-lp17/s400/simon+garden+of+the+gods+CO+copy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5439609541410152770" />Leslie@leserleeslovesandhobbieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05829256000923507369noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4003403311551774939.post-92127837776108563882010-02-15T08:18:00.000-08:002010-02-18T07:50:46.349-08:00Zoo Fun with FamilyPretty much the exact same thing as my last page, but with a different kit (Sweet Yleana by Jady Day Studio, which is retired and no longer available), and no rounded corners. Plus, this time there were three pictures that just could not be cropped into squares, so I was able to crop them so they were about twice the size as the squares. It took some precise measuring and very zoomed in resizing, but I think they look pretty great! And this pretty much finishes up the zoo pictures. There is one picture that I just wasn't able to fit in, but it was just a picture of a funny sign at the zoo. It said "Attention Hunters: Moose in Area! Be sure of your target" I thought it to be a funny sign to have at a zoo. In the zoo's defense, it was in an area that they had made to look like the woods and great outdoors. That's where the four-wheelers were located. And there were some information displays about conservation and safety.<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBzKk9DBE1xWDQ8b4vH16KNLZ3JEGhqgC-YZbje4d-lD8fbbQOU15K-yvWzeyl_L1ehuz4-ADj_yFgpCQQO0JFciMfJcB5nvHVzuB0YJ0P-iFEeg7N9n1A-Dr0hZQyr2CCDiHM5wGa3fiP/s400/zoo+people+copy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5439611359025273202" />Leslie@leserleeslovesandhobbieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05829256000923507369noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4003403311551774939.post-73973046043540176562010-02-12T14:05:00.000-08:002010-02-12T14:13:03.328-08:00Zoo AnimalsThis is the second to last post in the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Series. I still have to do a spread with pictures from all of us at the zoo, and some other fun stuff. I had a hard time doing this one. According to PhotoShop I have 50-some-odd layers, but in reality I deleted the first 30 or so layers from trying to crop different pictures in different ways, and then deleting them because I didn't like the way things were turning out. I got to a point where I had all my pictures cropped, and sized properly (a big feat considering the pictures came from at least four different cameras) but then just didn't like the way they were fitting on the pages, but I did like the two photos that were square, so I deleted the other eight pictures and went searching for new ones. Some of my previous ones were used again, but cropped differently, but then other ones didn't work, so I had to go find new ones. Then, once I had them all sized and in place I decided I wanted rounded corners instead of square ones, so thankfully I knew that I could just copy each "layer" (picture) into a new file, and they wouldn't lose their positioning. It took a good two hours this morning getting everything done, but I really LOVE the way the two pages turned out! What do you think? There will be a few more pages at some point in time. This one has taken me about three days to do, because I was having a hard time getting inspired. This has to be my favorite memory from the day. Abigail and I were visiting the reptile house and Abigail had already petted a snake, and a tortoise that was wondering around, and then, instead of checking out the other animals, she decided to check out a large table in the middle of the room. As she was climbing onto a stool at the table (which I was trying to get her down from) a zookeeper asked her if she wanted to help. And, of course she did, so she was able to prepare the food for one of the tortoises there. By the way, most of this is from a kit called "Summer Salsa" by KG Designs from SYTYCD 2009. The turtle is from a kit called "Imagine That" by Designs by Jen Yurko, but I changed the colors, and some of the buttons are from Doo Hickey Designs "A Mother's Melody" and "Zippity Doo Dah" by Sherry Ferguson.<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7Xyt_B5jS2J66GfK22uUbNTzFI7m6DLdbjgaDcSgmpJX_sK6Qc_6OY-tx57Y3YrtqvDVDDYCXB1KFqy00CpCsDdUEFqGdYa5eZH1SnRcugauUbEjvguDzrERoZA8B6If-AL_FdagZ4Tf5/s400/JUNIOR+ZOOKEPER+copy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5437128833078213826" />Leslie@leserleeslovesandhobbieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05829256000923507369noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4003403311551774939.post-36734282023590821032010-02-05T15:52:00.000-08:002010-12-18T15:12:20.481-08:00Fun at the Zoo
This is from the kit "Mr. Kite" by Lyndsey Riches. I got it as part of the "So You Think You Can Design" contest back whenever that was. I think it's the first kit that I've used from that contest that wasn't by Jady Day Studio. I thought the colors were great and the theme was fun. To celebrate the occasion the kids and I jammed out to the Beatles this morning. I am not really a fan of this song. It's a little too weird and hard to follow. But the kit is cool, and that's all that really matters. Bryant almost fell asleep on my lap while we were listening to the Beatles on YouTube. Finally I had the kids get off the couch and we all started dancing (we had the lovely "Twist and Shout" to help us out). At some point in time I'm going to do more pages from the zoo, since there is a lot more on there that I haven't done, like the 4-wheelers and Abigail being a Junior Zookeeper.Leslie@leserleeslovesandhobbieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05829256000923507369noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4003403311551774939.post-90714515706712925942010-02-03T15:08:00.000-08:002010-02-03T15:09:46.317-08:00Bath TimeI made the bubbles on the left hand side myself.<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiF438WsbWzzCJG2gRExMmu1BgCf4Nk3g1KRV8muHnRFpbkJhITc15IJpXp1oLBWLi5AWE_0Ti2nPmVzcEsyhL0K8IXIbe9Lt7vd5u1iU3BcioRDlXdLEeW4JwhLgap1EDsebi0IWsMXd1X/s400/bath+bryant+and+simon+copy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5434158246380283842" />Leslie@leserleeslovesandhobbieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05829256000923507369noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4003403311551774939.post-34766658603582907282010-02-02T15:50:00.000-08:002010-02-02T15:54:39.420-08:00First Day of PreschoolNo contest here, just thought I'd better get this red letter day scrapped before it turned into one of those projects that I know I should do, but haven't gotten around to doing. Yari's "Little Scholar" kit would have been a good one to have for this day, but I haven't gotten around to buying it (though I might now) yet.<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfI31SfXAvuSaMWFfA5iaSzkBi72QJpAMVBjlU4ATE9kEuASkoT_l68Gxv1BhCs4Jb3GuhMJo9Z46MSGb1hWEkHD1dlg8Jlu5vjn0ZuxumzS0GmyvD-AVL_fuUql7AWljkfgvCcfuwVmYF/s400/first+day+of+preschool+Abigail+copy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5433798515736506562" />Leslie@leserleeslovesandhobbieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05829256000923507369noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4003403311551774939.post-75354854169737528472010-02-01T17:43:00.000-08:002010-02-01T17:50:05.219-08:00Family Pictures 2009This one is also for the contest. They never limit you on how many entries you can submit, so I just keep going until I get sick of it. This LO was lifted from Keyr's "Winter Play". I loved the simplicity of it, just a few embellishments with the snowflakes, and lots of pictures. I love it when I see LOs that really let the pictures tell the story and be the focus, instead of all the embellishments. I also loved all the journalling below the main picture. I flipped the LO so everything was on the left hand side, instead of the right, for several reasons. #1, my main picture had all that empty space on the left that I could cover up with my side pictures, and #2 Abigail and Bryant were both looking to the right in their pictures, so their focus draws your eye to the middle of the page, instead of off the page if they had been on the right-hand side of the page. Good design principles there. Thank goodness for my Elementary Education Art class! This time I used "Totally Lovin' You" from Jady Day Studio because the green in the kit was the closest green that I could find to our shirts in all the complete kits that I have (which isn't as many as I used to think). And the blue and brown were also great. The only color I didn't use from that kit was the pink (and I guess the gray), but, those people that know me know that I'm not a pink person at all!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPK5DZCQ77swOlKGUVcO1uaBlw3RCbZUQqddrbflE3pXyNHvYrwPG_kVRXdeEMWeHM2XUNqfN5MLI7bcc-NVUTofPx2OSPCI_YSFBFIq93unY30ojM3tNxWQiUw8oPOMaazhJj9ARLwepU/s400/family+pictures+2009+copy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5433455880881562642" />Leslie@leserleeslovesandhobbieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05829256000923507369noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4003403311551774939.post-78178809145123476132010-02-01T14:46:00.000-08:002010-02-01T14:56:28.634-08:00The Faces of AbigailThis is for a contest over on the Jady Day Studio Babes blog. The contest involves "lifting" from another person. Lifting is a big compliment in the scrapping world. What it means is that you see a layout you really like, and use an idea from it, either layout, colors, theme, well, basically anything, and implementing that in your own layout. For this contest the Babes are having people pick a layout from Keyr (one of the Babes) and then post a link to it on their blog. So I am lifting Keyr's LO called "Faces". I liked this LO #1 because of the LO overall, and #2 because I have taken so many pictures of Abigail, trying to get just the right one. So as soon as I saw this LO, I thought of the pictures I took of Abigail for her third birthday and knew I would be able to create something great. I decided to use the "Blooming Friendship" kit from Jady Day Studio (Yari) instead of "Totally Lovin' You" because I like the colors in "Blooming Friendship" more than "Totally Lovin' You". The bright colors really speak to Abigail's personality more than the more subdued tones of "Totally Lovin' You". I'm thinking of doing one with some of Bryant's pictures too, using the same page from Keyr, but this one took me about 2.5 hours to do, so I might not. Also thinking about doing a lift using our family pictures from this fall too. We'll see.
Leslie@leserleeslovesandhobbieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05829256000923507369noreply@blogger.com2
