Family Pictures 2009

This one is also for the contest. They never limit you on how many entries you can submit, so I just keep going until I get sick of it. This LO was lifted from Keyr's "Winter Play". I loved the simplicity of it, just a few embellishments with the snowflakes, and lots of pictures. I love it when I see LOs that really let the pictures tell the story and be the focus, instead of all the embellishments. I also loved all the journalling below the main picture. I flipped the LO so everything was on the left hand side, instead of the right, for several reasons. #1, my main picture had all that empty space on the left that I could cover up with my side pictures, and #2 Abigail and Bryant were both looking to the right in their pictures, so their focus draws your eye to the middle of the page, instead of off the page if they had been on the right-hand side of the page. Good design principles there. Thank goodness for my Elementary Education Art class! This time I used "Totally Lovin' You" from Jady Day Studio because the green in the kit was the closest green that I could find to our shirts in all the complete kits that I have (which isn't as many as I used to think). And the blue and brown were also great. The only color I didn't use from that kit was the pink (and I guess the gray), but, those people that know me know that I'm not a pink person at all!

The Faces of Abigail

This is for a contest over on the Jady Day Studio Babes blog. The contest involves "lifting" from another person. Lifting is a big compliment in the scrapping world. What it means is that you see a layout you really like, and use an idea from it, either layout, colors, theme, well, basically anything, and implementing that in your own layout. For this contest the Babes are having people pick a layout from Keyr (one of the Babes) and then post a link to it on their blog. So I am lifting Keyr's LO called "Faces". I liked this LO #1 because of the LO overall, and #2 because I have taken so many pictures of Abigail, trying to get just the right one. So as soon as I saw this LO, I thought of the pictures I took of Abigail for her third birthday and knew I would be able to create something great. I decided to use the "Blooming Friendship" kit from Jady Day Studio (Yari) instead of "Totally Lovin' You" because I like the colors in "Blooming Friendship" more than "Totally Lovin' You". The bright colors really speak to Abigail's personality more than the more subdued tones of "Totally Lovin' You". I'm thinking of doing one with some of Bryant's pictures too, using the same page from Keyr, but this one took me about 2.5 hours to do, so I might not. Also thinking about doing a lift using our family pictures from this fall too. We'll see.

Jady Day Studio Totally Loving You Challenge-Sisters

It's been so long since Heather's wedding, I had totally forgotten that I didn't take any pictures there. So I pulled this one off of Facebook. Not my finest looking picture, since I was goofing off with my belly, but I really does bring out how I tend to be goofy with my sisters. Even though I look ridiculous, I still love this picture.

Jady Day Totally Loving You Challenge-Bryant

This one is of Bryant, obviously. I also used his birthday pictures for this one, which worked out really well, since he was wearing blue and brown, with a hint of green in his shorts. The colors matched the kit pretty well. I only had to deepen the blue felt strip to match his clothes better. I really love how this one turned out, with the classic look to it. It reminds me of formal dining rooms, where the color below the chair rail is often different than the color above, while still coordinating with each other. You usually don't see buttons in place of a chair rail though, but still, that was my inspiration for the design.

Jady Day Studio Totally Loving You Challenge-Abigail

I made this layout for a contest from Jady Day Studio. All the elements and papers come from a kit called "Totally Loving You". Not necessarily my favorite colors (okay, not by a long shot), but they ended up working great for these pictures of Abigail. I did tweak some of the colors of things so they would work better for me. I'm not an expert at color changes yet, but I'm sure working on it. I hope you like it!

Abigail in the Duck Blanket

Here's the same layout, but with Abigail instead. I figured it would be fun to see how similar they look.

Bryant in the Duck Blanket

We took a picture just like this of Abigail. It is one of my favorites. So I figured I'd better do the same with Bryant.

Cute Girl

I just took this picture today. Sometimes you take a picture that just needs to be shown, if for nothing else than you have a cute kid. I can't believe how grown up she looks. And oh so cute with the ribbon head band. I love it.

Bryant Smiling

This picture was taken yesterday. I just love his little smile!

Camping at Palisades

Okay, I know I spelled reservoir wrong. Oops. I realized it too late, and the only way I know of to fix it is to start all over again. Once it's been saved and closed it opens as one image, with no layers. If someone knows how to edit the layers once it's been closed, I would like to know how.

Easter 2008

Abigail in her adorable Easter dress. I think it snowed two days later. And then about 2 months later too. Go figure.
