Halloween, 3 of 3

Not my favorite page, but I wasn't sure how else to do it. I guess maybe using a B&W photo instead. Oh well.

More Halloween Post 2 of 3

If you want to see the Firefighter and Super Girl costumes, you will have to go to Facebook. Blogger just will not let me upload the spread, no matter how many times, on how many different days, I try. Bummer. Sorry.

The Princess and the Frog Halloween 2010 Set 1 of 3

These are just two of the six costumes Abigail and Bryant wore for all the Halloween festivities this year. Abigail's page mostly used "Springdipity" by Jady Day Studio. Then the other two pages mostly used "Boo Spooky Boo" by Jady Day Studio. There is a brad from "Safari Dreamin'", and the crown is from Carina Gardner's "Little Princess" mini-kit. Beautiful Girl tag is from "Sweet Yleana" by Jady Day Studio, and the metal alpha is from Melissa Turnidge's kit "Good Day Sunshine".

Dying Eggs

This is the last of the Easter posts. And to answer your question, Mom, the third Easter Egg hunt was our neighborhood one, in the water retention basin at the end of our cul-de-sac. Now that the Easter posts are done it's probably time to start scrapbooking our California trip. We'll see how much of it I actually get done, especially because we received a scrapbook of the trip in the mail from my grandma last week. Thanks, Grandmama!

Bryant and Ethan doing what boys do best. Playing with giant dump trucks. These guys are exactly two months apart. Ethan is the older one. :)

Egg Hunt with the Guss'

All from Hoppity Dee. I am so loving this kit. I am also so sad that the reason I got this kit for so cheap is because Yajaira retired from being a designer. But, with her fourth child about to be born, I completely understand. Still sad though. :(

Egg Hunt at Gigi's

The kids had three egg hunts. I only took pictures at two of them. The first one was at my Grandmama's house (whom the kids call Gigi). These are the pictures. The second hunt, at my second cousin's house, put on by my Great-Aunt Lavona, will be scrapped sometime in the near future.

Easter Clothes

The kids in their "Easter clothes". This is not the dress that Abigail actually wore for Easter, but it is the one I decided to take her pictures in. And Bryant mostly wore this outfit, except he wore a white polo on Easter, instead of his long sleeve white shirt.

Family Pictures 2009

This one is also for the contest. They never limit you on how many entries you can submit, so I just keep going until I get sick of it. This LO was lifted from Keyr's "Winter Play". I loved the simplicity of it, just a few embellishments with the snowflakes, and lots of pictures. I love it when I see LOs that really let the pictures tell the story and be the focus, instead of all the embellishments. I also loved all the journalling below the main picture. I flipped the LO so everything was on the left hand side, instead of the right, for several reasons. #1, my main picture had all that empty space on the left that I could cover up with my side pictures, and #2 Abigail and Bryant were both looking to the right in their pictures, so their focus draws your eye to the middle of the page, instead of off the page if they had been on the right-hand side of the page. Good design principles there. Thank goodness for my Elementary Education Art class! This time I used "Totally Lovin' You" from Jady Day Studio because the green in the kit was the closest green that I could find to our shirts in all the complete kits that I have (which isn't as many as I used to think). And the blue and brown were also great. The only color I didn't use from that kit was the pink (and I guess the gray), but, those people that know me know that I'm not a pink person at all!

Jady Day Totally Loving You Challenge-Bryant

This one is of Bryant, obviously. I also used his birthday pictures for this one, which worked out really well, since he was wearing blue and brown, with a hint of green in his shorts. The colors matched the kit pretty well. I only had to deepen the blue felt strip to match his clothes better. I really love how this one turned out, with the classic look to it. It reminds me of formal dining rooms, where the color below the chair rail is often different than the color above, while still coordinating with each other. You usually don't see buttons in place of a chair rail though, but still, that was my inspiration for the design.

Artists

The pictures are probably familiar from the Mother's Day layouts, but I wanted to do another post that focused more on their creativity. So here it is. I figured out a way to do a two-page spread. Just make a new project with a canvas size of 24 inches wide and 12 inches tall, at a resolution of 300 ppi. Pretty simple. Then put the paper (or papers) that you want to use on that blank canvas, side by side. Duh. Why I didn't think of it sooner, I don't know, but I'm glad I did. By the way, a lot of these papers and elements I'm using are coming from a design competition on digiscrapaddicts.com. All you have to do is register for their forum (it's free) and then download all the kits that you want from the competition (which are also free). Oh, and If you get any from Jady Day Studio (Yajaira/Yari Mower) send her lots of love. She is awesome, and I hope she makes it far in the competition. Oh, and if you need to find it, look for "So You Think You Can Design" or "SYTYCD". Happy scrapping!

This is a side by side spread. Just in case you were wondering what the deal was with the "sw".

I really really really love this kit. Holly Jolly Christmas by Jady Day Studio (Yajaira). This is the kids two Sundays before Christmas. One of these days I will scrapbook actual Christmas morning. One of these days.

Playing with Black and White

For this one, I wanted to do some black and white photos, so I went to "image" then "mode", and chose "grayscale" to make my color pictures black and white. Then I played around a little bit with lightening and darkening shadows, highlights, and midtones under "adjust color." I'm still not 100% pleased with them, wish there was something more I could do, but I haven't quite figured it out yet. So this is as good as it gets for right now. By the way, the only thing from Yajaira is the white swirl. I made the paper myself, and the other stuff is from the digital scrapbook day treasure hunt. Way too many things from there to keep track of all of it.

Halloween 2008

This is a two page spread, for if I ever get a book printed of all of these. Although the books are super expensive everywhere I've seen. For that price I should just go back to paper scrapbooking. Sheesh.

Bryant in the Duck Blanket

We took a picture just like this of Abigail. It is one of my favorites. So I figured I'd better do the same with Bryant.

One Month

The one thing I did with this one was use the brush tool to do all the white around the picture. Our red plaid couch just didn't look good. Next time I do picture I might have to do a backdrop. Though the reasoning behind taking pictures on the couch was to use the plaid as a gauge for growth.
